A message from Mayor Bill Sapelli:
First, I would like to thank everyone for their positive attitude, cooperation and compassion during these difficult days. Agawam has truly risen to the occasion.
I am, however, concerned about everyone’s health and welfare: physically, emotionally and financially. Stay strong and together we will get through this.
Due to these unique circumstances, the Town of Agawam will be waiving penalties and interest on all tax bills at this time. These tax bills include Excise, Water/Sewer as well as Real Estate. For those fortunate residents who are employed in essential services and are still receiving regular paychecks, the expectation is that these taxes will be paid timely. However, for those residents who are currently unemployed and waiting for stimulus money to come through, this is one way in which the town can assist in the short run. The town is a business, as well and depends upon its tax revenue to meet its obligations. Please, if you are able to make your tax payments on time, do so. If you cannot pay on time, penalties and interest will be waived through June 30th.
If you have any questions about this or any other town procedure during this situation, please go to www.agawam.ma.us for further information and updates.
Please stay safe, stay positive and God Bless.
