5th Open Juried Art Show
(Agawam, Mass.) The Friends of the Agawam Public Library announces its 5th Open Juried Art Show November 4-29, 2013. There are 26 awards with cash prizes totaling $1,250. The awards are made up of three prizes in each category, Best in Show, and 10 honorable mentions. The Friends expect the art show to draw upon the many talented and upcoming artists in the area. The Art Show is to benefit the Agawam Public Library and to help recognize and encourage artists. For the 2012 4th Open Juried Art Show there were 91 paintings hung from 85 artists that came from 26 towns and cities in the greater area. From Massachusetts: Agawam, Amherst, Bernardston, Blandford, Chicopee, Deerfield, East Longmeadow, Feeding Hills, Florence, Greenfield, Hadley, Hampden, Holyoke, Longmeadow, Northampton, Russell, Shutesbury, Southwick, Springfield, and West Springfield. From Connecticut: Broad Brook, East Granby, Enfield, Groton, Stafford Springs, and Suffield.
Multiple entries per category of original art are allowed. The fee is $25 per entry for early-bird registration by Saturday, October 19, 2013. The fee becomes $30 per entry after October 19th. Last day to enter is Saturday, November 2, 2013. Saturday, October 19th starts a two week period for dropping off artwork at the library during library hours (Mon-Thu 9-9, Fri 10-6, Sat 10-5) and on Sat Nov. 2, 2013 from 10-1. The drop off of artwork ends on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 10am – 1pm. Judging begins that same day, Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2pm; it is closed to the public. Artist Reception and Awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday evening November 8, 2013 from 7PM-9PM with music and light refreshments. It is free and open to the public.
The selection and awards jurors are Robert K. Carsten and Steve Wilda.
The five categories are acrylics, oils, watercolors, pastels, other media (pencil drawing, charcoals, pen and inks, block prints, collage, encaustics).

The artwork juried into the show will be on display in the gallery area of the Agawam Public Library, 750 Cooper Street, Agawam, MA from November 4 to 29, 2013.
