FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Public Forum regarding Streetscape Improvements for Agawam's Walnut St. Extension
The Town of Agawam is holding a public forum regarding parking, traffic circulation and streetscape improvements for Walnut St. Extension. The purpose of the forum is to share ideas and gather public input. The improvements are being planned to support revitalization of Walnut St. Extension into a vibrant town center for Agawam. The improvements will address sidewalks, parking, pedestrian amenities, street trees, and bicycle safety with the goal of transforming Walnut St. Extension into a unique and lively place that will attract mixed use development. This effort follows passage of new mixed-use zoning for the area earlier this year, and will be supported by upcoming improvements to the Memorial Avenue Bridge, Springfield Street, Main Street, and Suffield Street.
The public forum will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 6:30PM at the Agawam Senior Center at 954 Main St, Agawam, MA.
The improvements are being developed with assistance from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission with funding provided by a District Local Technical Assistance Grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
