Steampunk 101 with Sarah Hodge-Wetherbe

What exactly is steampunk?  According to www.dictionary.com , it is “a subgenre of science fiction and fantasy featuring advanced machines and other technology based on steam power of the 19th century and taking place in a recognizable historical period or fantasy world.”

Sarah Hodge-Wetherbe, a self-proclaimed “geek gal” who hails from the Springfield Library, will present a panel on steampunk called: The Intersection of Technology and Romance: Steampunk 101, on Monday, March 16th at 7:00.  She will discuss the various ways steampunk is identified, how it developed as a genre and how it is influencing everything from literature to fashion.  She will bring some steampunk pieces (props and clothing) for participants to try on after the program!
