Special Guest Speakers:

Dr. Sandra Stotsky: English Language Arts standard expert, member of the Common Core Validation Committee and former Senior Associate Commissioner in the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

 

Mr. Jamie Gass, Pioneer Institute: Director of the Center for School Reform at the Pioneer Institute. Mr. Gass has framed, commissioned, and managed over 60 research papers and numerous policy events on K-12 education reform topics.

 

Mr. Timothy Collins: President of the Springfield Education Association.  Mr. Collins has been the President of SEA since 1997, prior he was a math teacher with the Springfield Public Schools.  Mr. Collins will be adding to the discussion his thoughts and expertise into standardize testing.

 

All Massachusetts school age children will ultimately be mandated to participate in the newly adopted untested national Common Core standards. Who created this program? Who voted to adopt it? Will it lower Massachusetts teaching standards? Will teachers lose their ability to address your children’s needs?
