Agawam to Host Final Presentation and Workshop on Economic Development
The Town of Agawam will host a workshop on Monday, December 14, 2009 to present the study
results of Agawam’s Comprehensive Economic Development Study and discuss the location and
future of identified Priority Development Areas. The workshop will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00
p.m. at the Agawam Public Library located at 750 Cooper Street, Agawam, MA. Residents are
encouraged to attend.
The Town of Agawam was awarded a Technical Assistance Grant in April, 2008 and retained the
services of the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission who recently completed the Economic
Development Study. The findings of the study include the identification of parcels with the
greatest potential for commercial/industrial development, a traffic impact analysis on identified
sites, and the identification of any municipal barriers to such development. Local input was also
included in the findings in the form of a survey of 699 residents and a Visioning Workshop held in
April, 2009 which helped to identify top priorities for retail, commercial and industrial development
for the community.
Jessica Allan, Senior Planner for the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission will provide an
overview and present the Priority Development Areas which will be followed by Breakout
Sessions/Workshops to gain public input on each parcel/development site.
For more information about the workshop, contact Deborah S. Dachos, Agawam Director of
