(AGAWAM, MA – February 25, 2014) – The Town of Agawam is pleased to announce the release of their newly redesigned website. www.agawam.ma.us.
“Call it a smart website,” said Keith LeBeau, President and CEO of QScend Technologies, which has provided Agawam with design services and a content management suite since 2008. “As a visitor switches to viewing the site on a computer to a tablet to a smart phone, the website responds by providing the visitor with the best user experience possible.”
In addition to its responsiveness, the new Agawam website includes an updated look and feel, improved and simpler navigation, and a number of tools that make the site interactive, such as:
- A submission for citizen requests for service
- Photo galleries and slide shows
- RSS feed subscriptions
- Central depositories for agendas and minutes and forms and documents
- Online payments for real estate, personal property and motor vehicle excise taxes as well as water and sewer billing
“There is also a number of coding and style elements in place that will make it easier for Agawam to modernize its look every year, if it would like,” said LeBeau. “With an Internet year equaling three months, according to Bill Gates, that’s important. To frequent users, sites can look old in just two to three years.”
“We have worked hard on the redesign of our new website for all who visit it. Every department got involved to review and update their content,’ said Mayor Richard A Cohen. “We are excited to be able to direct news feeds to both Facebook and Twitter and provide improved viewing on mobile devices”
Also, department pages are now more consistent. Each time a citizen visits a department home page, in addition to important department information, citizens will notice key department links in the upper right corner with contact information right below.
