Procedure
Procedure to obtain a marriage license in Massachusetts:
- Couples must apply in person and together to file the intention of marriage. This can be done in any town or city clerk's office in the state. Applications are done between 9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday Thru Friday, by appointment only.
- A marriage license, once obtained, is valid for 60 days from the date the intention is filed and may be used in any city or town in the state.
- The fee of $30 in Agawam pays for the marriage certificate and certified copy.
Required Information
In addition, couples must know the:
- Full names of parents
- Including mother's maiden name
- Correct spellings
Note: Must present documents with applicant name and social security number.

The documentation may be either:
- Driver's License
- Health Card
- Pay Stub
- Social Security Card
- Tax Form
