[ARCHIVED] All non-essential public meetings of boards and commissions will be cancelled until further notice

For Immediate Release

The Town of Agawam announces that all non-essential public meetings of boards and commissions will be cancelled until further notice. This is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Agawam’s efforts to limit potential community spread of the virus.

Pursuant to the March 12, 2020 Order signed by Governor Baker, those public meetings that are deemed essential will be held at the Agawam Senior Center.  The meetings will be closed to the public in an effort to insure that the size of the gathering is limited.  The meetings will be videotaped and broadcast on the town’s public access channel as soon as practicable after the meeting.

All public meeting notices will be posted on the town’s website (www.agawam.ma.us) and on the bulletin board outside town hall.  The meeting notices shall contain e-mail contact information for members of the public to provide input and comments about agenda items to board and commission members electronically.

Any members of the public desiring to provide input and comments to the Agawam City Council under its Citizens Speak Time portion of the meeting may submit them to the Council Administrative Assistant, Barbara Bard at BBard@agawam.ma.us.  Any members of the public desiring to provide input and comments to the Agawam School Committee under its Citizens Speak Time portion of the meeting may submit them to the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, Alexis Ferioli at AFerioli@agawamed.org.  All submitted comments shall be read into the record of the meeting.

We are all hopeful that in the near future, our regular meeting schedule will resume.  In the interim, we encourage all residents to keep up on town affairs by regularly checking the town’s website (www.agawam.ma.us) for updated information.

Thank you.
