On behalf of the Agawam Veterans Council and the Town of Agawam, we are pleased to announce our 2021 Memorial Day Observance schedule of events with the Parade starting at 10:00 AM. We are also pleased to announce our 2021 Parade Marshall, Don Carvill (Korean War Veteran, U.S. Air Force)
Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971.
We invite you the following Memorial Day Observance schedule of ceremonies:
Sunday, May 30th, 2021
- 10:00 AM Agawam Congregational Church
Monday, May 31st, 2021
- 7:00 AM Vietnam Bridge with West Springfield Veterans’ Council
- 7:25 AM American Legion Post #185
- 7:40 AM Springfield Street Cemetery
- 8:00 AM Granger School
- 8:15 AM South Westfield Street Cemetery
- 8:30 AM Agawam Center Cemetery-Across St. John’s Church
10:00 AM Parade- Assembly point, Agawam Middle School/Agawam Town Hall and march down Main Street to Veterans’ Green. Ceremony will follow
IN THE EVENT OF RAIN CEREMONY WILL BE IN THE AGAWAM JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM AT 10:30 AM
