[ARCHIVED] Press Release from Agawam Health Dept

PRESS RELEASE

December 28, 2021

 Dear Residents of Agawam,

The Agawam Health Department was not able to receive any of the free rapid Covid-19 tests from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The reason Agawam was not one of the 102 communities that received free rapid tests was due to the Commonwealth using a formula that identified low income communities which Agawam was not a low income community identified by this formula.   The Federal Government and the Commonwealth have also not made available funds as they did the previous year to expand testing and vaccinations. This leaves the Town of Agawam with limited funds to use for these programs.  Residents can go onto   Mass.gov/GetTested   and   VaxFinder .mass.gov   to find testing and vaccination sites in our area. The Town of Agawam strongly recommends that the public get vaccinated and obtain booster shots for themselves if possible. Stay Safe and Healthy!

Respectfully,

                Michael Theroux
